All that glitters.... Gold crush!

Since the beginning of time, the luxuriousness of gold has made it a desirable choice for jewellery. One of my favourite things about gold is that it comes in a selection of tones, namely white, yellow or rose. All three are equally as stunning, but each create a completely different look.

You can’t go far wrong with a classic white gold item, whether you’re buying that precious engagement ring or just treating yourself. Such a sought-after metal in this timeless colour is ideal when it comes to wanting something you will cherish for life, safe in the knowledge that it won’t go out of fashion.

If you’re looking for your latest white gold piece of jewellery, why not accessorise your favourite look with a feminine locket? Perfect for holding sentimental photographs and memories for years to come and not only this, a fabulous fashion must too. This white gold diamond locket is the perfect way to hold on to those precious memories. With a little dash of sparkle, this is a beautiful keepsake that can be worn with pretty much anything. Layer up with longer pendants for a mix/match boho inspired Spring/Summer look.

In its purest form, gold shines in a warm yellow hue, but it was not long ago that yellow gold was considered old fashioned and shunned for what was regarded the more modern substitute, white. However, with the return of vintage chic and a desire for all things antique, I for one am very excited to see the comeback of the classic yellow gold! With its versatile style and summery tone, it is easy to add a delicate touch of timeless elegance or an edgy twist with a bold, statement piece.

The natural lustre of gold is hard to resist, however the price tag can sometimes put it out of reach. This striking Together bracelet is made of bonded 9ct yellow gold and silver, making it that bit more affordable whilst still looking just as luxurious - so let’s get gold crushing ladies!

Gold jewellery also comes in a warm rose tone, sometimes referred to as pink or red gold. This colour option has also crept up in the fashion world, its feminine hue bridging the gap between white and yellow gold. Rose gold made its debut as a subtle accompaniment in tri-colour pieces, or layered together with other metals. However, it is now standing its own ground and items made of rose gold are just as eye catching – some may argue more - as pieces made in its alternative tones. This Seksy rose gold-plated watch is the perfect example of this. With its striking design and glitzy detailing, it definitely shows how this once overlooked colour gold has earned is place at the fashion forefront.

Spring Style

From neons to pastels and sophisticated monochrome combined with bold graphic prints there is a trend for everyone this spring/summer and it is just a matter of time before it starts getting warmer and we can finally stop hiding under our coats and start experimenting with our favourite Spring/Summer picks.

No matter what time of year, neon clothing always seems to work its way back into our wardrobes and this year it’s gone one step further with a controversial 90’s throwback, although I’m not quite sure how I feel about the return of the scrunchie, I’m open to adding a pop of neon vibrance to my Spring/Summer look. For a subtle neon edge why not ease your way in to this daring trend with a statement Ice watch, like this neon green edition, the perfect way to add a splash of colour to your outfit without causing people to shield their eyes! Available in a range of striking colours, why not mix and match with your outfits to create a unique and contemporary style.

If you’re looking for something that still says Spring/Summer fashion but with more of a softer tone, then why not try the ever favourite trend of pastels. From pale pinks and lilacs to subtle blues and greens, there is a colour for everyone and is a fail safe way of incorporating a little Spring/Summer femininity into your look. With aquamarine as the birthstone for March it is an ideal accompaniment for this style and if we are fortunate enough to get some sunshine this spring then this dainty blue stone is sure to catch the light, adding a dash of Spring sparkle. This aquamarine and diamond ring not only keeps in with the pastel trend but also adds a dash of vintage elegance.

With Easter coming fast I was surprised to see that within the midst of cute fluffy bunny’s and colourful chocolate eggs we would see such strong black and white prints hitting the shops. From crop tops to midi dresses, shops all over the high street seem to be filled with striking patterns and bold prints in these two classic colours. One of my favourite fashion spots was this quirky letter print sweat top from Topshop and I couldn’t help but give it a perfect partner in the form of this Guess watch. Its bold graphic design is sure to make you stand out from the crowd. The crystal embellishment around the edge gives it that perfect touch of glitz and glam so it can even be worn to dress up your evening outfit. An easy way to give your favourite little black dress a new contemporary edge.

Whatever trend you decide to try out this Spring/Summer make sure you have a look at our collection of jewellery and watches to find the perfect accessory for your look at H.Samuel.

A Mother's Day full of sparkle...

With the dappled sunlight peeking through those lingering winter clouds, the first sights of budding daffodils in the fields and even leaving work in the daylight, it is certainly clear that spring is upon us; and ! for one cannot wait to ditch my coat and scarf for skirts and sandals! With the beginning of March, this also means it is time to celebrate the most important woman in our lives: our mums.

Mother’s Day is less than a week away and finding the perfect gift can often be a struggle. However, whether your mum is looking for a classic piece of jewellery, a contemporary timepiece, or even an adorable collectible, there is sure to be something to spoil your Mum with at H.Samuel.

My mum is impartial to a bit of bling and loves to accessorise her favourite outfits with jewellery that will add some contemporary sparkle. Not sure about you guys, but me and my mum have been hooked on ‘The Big Reunion’ recently, reliving those delightful years where I’d force her to take me to see the likes of 5ive and liberty X. As a result, she’s taken a particular shine to the Crystalla by Sekonda watches, from those whispering adverts during the break.

These watches are right on trend and sure to be a welcome addition for any fashion-forward Mum, featuring a stone set case, mother of pearl dial and sparkling round crystals. These watches are perfect for adding instant glamour and easily matched with your favourite outfit as they are available in an array of colours.

If your mum’s style takes the more classic approach, then this pendant, earring and bracelet set from the Sea Mist collection is sure to add a touch of elegance to an evening look. If you’re looking for a little vintage inspiration then separate and wear individually for an effortlessly timeless look.

For a more traditional approach to Mother’s Day, a locket is a special gift that can easily be personalised with a photo or message inside. This heart shaped locket from Together is delicately engraved with the word ‘Mum’, guaranteed to be an unforgettable Mother’s Day gift.

Here at H.Samuel we do love a collectible and I can’t get enough of the Me to You bears! Whether you’re an avid collector or new to Me to You, there is a bear for everyone and this little guy is sure to melt hearts this Mother’s Day. Complete with a ‘Best Mum’ sash and a lavish bunch of pink roses, this little bear is sure to take pride of place in your Mum’s home for a classic Mother’s Day gift.
