Here come the boys!

Christmas is fast approaching and with the first sighting of Christmas trees and lights being spotted last week, it is definitely time to get buying those Christmas presents! 

It only seems fair that we give the boys a chance after my slightly over excited and feminine Twilight post earlier this week. So it’s time for a little treat in the way of Men’s fashion watches. 

I do love a good watch and we have some great men’s watches here at H.Samuel this Christmas, perfect to fill the stocking of any special man in your life. To be honest, it didn't take much persuading after they saw the iconic Batman logo… Yes, I said it, Batman.

Whilst Rhydian was off indulging in his new found Superhero status, David opted for the artistic limited edition Mister Cartoon watch. This watch boasts a large black dial detailed with the iconic Mister Cartoon face and custom engraving on the side of the watch. The scripted numbers combined with the silhouette of the clown, create a surrealist finish straight from the pages of a comic strip. 

Isak, however decided to unleash his wild side with one of the Adidas lines. This leopard print design with rose gold coloured detailing is perhaps a little edgy, but for the male leaders of the fashion pack, these watches could turn every day streets into your very own catwalk! 

Another great watch by Adidas is the limited edition Melbourne watch. This striking rose gold plated watch with generous crystal embellishment is a marker for the 40 years since the launch of the iconic three leafed trefoil Adidas logo and is sure to make a statement. This addition to your watch collection is sure to make a statement and with only 500 being made, once they’re gone, they’re gone!

Vampire chic, Twilight style!

My name is Lauren and I’m a Twi-hard! Like many of you out there, this is my favourite time of year. Not just because of Christmas, but because the latest and final instalment of Twilight in all it’s handsome vampire/lupine glory is back on the silver screen! To be quite honest I think I’ll be mourning the end of the Twilight franchise for months to come.

After patiently waiting two whole days to see the film, I finally got to watch it last Sunday and safe to say, I am now even more obsessed! Tissues were at the ready and I completely didn't see that ending coming, however I will not ruin it for those who are yet to see the final chapter! 

When the opportunity arose to blog about this wonderful saga, of course I was first in line! What better way to pay homage to the characters sultry and gothic styles, then to put together some of my favourite Twilight inspired fashion and jewellery pieces and create my very own vampire style guide in the process?! 

Personally I think I’m a little more Alice than Bella. Bella’s style is very dressed down or tomboy trendy - t-shirts, skinny jeans, trainers; check!. I on the other hand frequently opt for cutesy floral prints to hang in my wardrobe. However, this season I’ve been completely won over by the gothic and rock-chic inspired clothes and accessories that adorned the A/W12 catwalks. The studs, leather and of course a splash of sparkle are the perfect way to create your very own dark and brooding, seductive look with a feminine flourish.

I recently purchased a great leather look skater skirt from River Island and it is definitely my favourite item of clothing at the moment! This timeless style of the skater skirt fashioned in an edgy material is the perfect way to style up a basic tee. I wear mine with a grey boyfriend t-shirt from Topshop. Tuck it into this skirt and drape with a statement necklace like this Fiorelli multi-chain crystal necklet. 

This skirt is easily dressed up for a night out too, team with a black studded crop top and combine with a cocktail ring to add drama and enchantment.

Christmas Wishlist

With Christmas fast approaching, my own Christmas list is starting to get longer and longer and after my store visit last week I've definitely added a few more pieces to that ever growing list!

Last Friday I went back to my roots for a shift in H.Samuel Harlow, it was great to go back to the store and be reunited with everyone that I miss very much since moving to Head Office. After seeing how they’re gearing up for Christmas it was time to have a little peek at some of my favourite pieces from H.Samuel this season.

The Forever Diamond half price Christmas ring is absolutely stunning and I could not resist trying it on! This solitaire ring stays true to the nature of the Forever Diamond, with its exceptional sparkle and brilliance. The extra diamond detailing beneath the shoulders add an extra ounce of sparkle. I would be thrilled to receive this for Christmas; although I think I’d be pushing my luck if I even asked!

I also discovered this great silver and quartz bracelet whilst serving a customer. This contemporary bracelet is the ideal accessory for any outfit. I’m a big fan of the studs and sparkle trend this season so I’d definitely incorporate this into a slightly rock-chick inspired look. Paired with a black skater skirt, studded belt and simple tee, this bracelet is sure to add tie in with this look perfectly. Rose gold has been a must this season for watches. The warm gold tone on a chunky timepiece is the perfect statement watch and can be worn with anything. I wear my own Radley Watch through day to night and find that it compliments any outfit perfectly. This exclusive Bulova watch is no exception, with a crystal bezel and stunning rose gold bracelet, this watch would look great teamed with your favourite Christmas jumper right through to your favourite party dress this festive season. This is the perfect stylish gift and a girl can never have too many watches right?

Another favourite trend of mine this season is the layering of gold pendants. Teamed with a chunky knitted jumper or cardi, delicate pendants can be transformed into a striking piece of neck wear  This Together pendant is perfect for that. Team with a cross pendant, for a contrasting fashion statement of cute vs. edgy.

The Star Style Sparkle Season

A mist has descended upon H.Samuel HQ and what only a month ago was a slight nip in the air, we’re now resigned to the fact that winter is here to stay. Far from being devastated by the prospect of being chilled to the marrow, as soon as Halloween bid us a ghoulish goodbye, we turned our attentions directly towards Christmas, being the festive harbingers of merriment and cheer that we are.

The office has been decorated by the marketing team and we’ve even created a workspace for Mr Sparkle should he want to take a break from scouring the globe, collecting sparkles for his diamonds. Keep an eye out for him on the TV this weekend and the coming weeks as he’s set to make many a regular appearance sandwiched between your favourite reality shows and soaps.

So as Mr Sparkle gets ready for his close up, it got us to thinking about the star style of the beautiful, rich and famous. The tail end of the year always sees a flurry of films released at the cinema, perfect for wintery evenings when the long nights of sipping summer cocktails are long behind us, and the urge to hibernate overcomes us. This weekend sees the release of the final installment of Twilight and while Lauren is chomping at a vampire bit to get her fix, she’s busied herself with creating Pinterest boards to recreate the gothic, dark and seductive style. Me, I’ve been searching for the perfect gold cross to ward off those vamps, an option wholly preferable to garlic. I love this piece, as modelled by Emma, from Together but am plumping for this interestingly curved design diamond set cross pendant.

High Street favourite Dorothy Perkins have recently launched a collaborative collective with the Kardashians, and if there is anything a Kardashian does well, it’s bling (and weddings). Take a look at how Kim Kardashian has layered up gold and silver bangles to create an impactful and illuminated contrast against the heavy black velvet of her dress.

 I’ve experimented with tonal stones – opals, topaz, citrine, and quartz - paired with both silver and gold, to personalise strong statement bangles complemented with a delicate stone set gold bracelet.

If you’re looking for something a little more cost effective then Fiorelli’s Sparkle bracelet and Guess gold plated and taupe piece are a great way to start building your bracelets.

Dazzling diamonds have adorned the lobes, necks and fingers of the well heeled red carpeteers over the years. I don’t wear earrings often enough but since joining the HS team; I’ve had my eye on many a pair of diamond earrings, like these Forever Diamond studs.
